Elevator

Written by Daniel Damian Pak (ASCAP)

you’re stuck in a rut
seems like there’s no way out
behind a concrete wall looking out
i caught you in the elevator coming down
oh no…captivity

in your heart you fear
you’ll be still here in twenty years or more
your life is chained to their clock
when will it ever stop?
captivity

they make you change your ways
for a petty wage
sell out your conscience
to step on your comrades
this is their way
from plantation to the office
oh no…captivity

no you can’t run
no you can’t hide
and you wonder now
who will stand by your side
if you let it all go
it won’t be so bad, no
better to be free than captive
