Drink Tickets From The Mayor

Earlier today while loading in gear at Seattle Center for Bumbershoot, Pak ran into Mayor McGinn, who just so happens to be a big fan of Kore Ionz. Totem Star Records, the non-profit youth-run record label co-founded by Pak and Thaddeus, will be featured at the first annual City of Music Community Expo every day of the festival. The photo above, taken in Mayor McGinn’s office, was from their first program in July 2010. Read more about their work here, and if you’re going to Bumbershoot, be sure to stop by the Totem Star Records table in the Armory / Center House. The youth will be making music all festival long. Mayor McGinn had just spoke at his annual Mayor’s Arts Awards, and was running into another meeting when he and Pak ran into each other. “So sorry I gotta run…lets catch up soon,” he said. “In fact, you and your family should go crash the reception right by the fountain – here’s some drink tickets!”
