What a week! Just got out of Aleph Studios late last night after overdubbing organ tracks for the new album. Kiley’s organ sounds sounded better than ever, plugged directly into a Leslie speaker from the 1970’s. Anyone got one for sale?
After we finish up the organ, we’ll record more horns, some backing vocals, a little lead guitar, and then bring in some very special guests before we start mixing. Lots of work to do still, but it’s right on track and the album is definitely a fresh step in a new direction from Half-hour Revolution.
Tuesday we had our final rehearsal for the big show tomorrow night at Nectar Lounge with Thaddillac and DJ Million. Thaddillac is the soul-heavy, funkafried brainchild of Thaddeus Turner, who you may have seen ripping through leads on the electric guitar in Maktub or on tour with the legendary Digible Planets. And if you search for “talk box” on Wikipedia, you’ll see a picture of “A man using a talk box.” Check out his latest album, Fleetfoot Broham. And see you at the show!
